Bucket Makeup
Selected varieties of  scrap metal, pre-determined by metallurgists, are loaded into the charge buckets.
Furnace Charging
An overhead crane moves the scrap in the charge bucket to the furnace for melting. It takes three or four charge buckets to produce one heat.
Melting
An electric arc furnace melts scrap under highly-basic oxidizing slag. To control residue levels, all charge and melting parameters are computer calculated.

Refining
Throughout the melting process, oxygen is blown into the bath to provide additional energy to enhance the melting rate as well as lower the carbon, phosphorous and nitrogen levels.
